On March 29, 2009, the Eleanor Roosevelt Democratic Club honored Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney at its annual brunch at the Yale Club. In his introduction of Congresswoman Maloney, Democratic Party District Leader Charles Buchwald praised her as our “Community Champion” and cited, in particular, her strong support for the Second Avenue Subway and the East Side Access transportation projects, her efforts to modernize financial services laws, her advocacy for community concerns about the development at the Con Ed/Solow site, and her leadership in support of domestic and international women’s issues. Many political leaders and members of the community joined the Club in recognizing Rep. Maloney’s extraordinary achievements. (See Photo Gallery)
At the Brunch, the Club also honored outgoing Club President Max Neuberger for his tireless efforts on behalf of the Club. In addition, Muriel Bernstein was recognized for her many years of service to the Club and given the honorary title of Vice President, Emeritus.
